Melvin S. (Mordechai/Morty) Marsh, MS, CAHA, CCHt, NREMT, NBCFCH, AEA is a multifaceted individual whose contributions to society span a remarkable breadth of fields. Renowned as an award-winning author, educator, scientist, entrepreneur, and humanitarian, he has dedicated his life to advancing knowledge, improving lives, and making a positive impact on the world.
A prolific writer, Melvin has garnered accolades as an award-winning author in the realm of religion, his works illuminating spiritual paths and inspiring countless readers. His poetic and dramatic contributions further showcase his creative genius, enriching the cultural landscape.
As a distinguished academic, Melvin has taught at various levels, from high school to graduate programs, in disciplines ranging from English and Drama to Psychology and Space Studies. His expertise in these fields and others have been recognized through numerous awards and accolades. His dedication to emergency preparedness is evident in his certification of nearly 400 individuals in Stop the Bleed, equipping them with life-saving skills. Additionally, he has made significant contributions to scientific research, publishing his findings in prestigious journals such as Nature Human Behaviour and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. His research has been instrumental in advancing understanding and informing policy in his fields. As a current adjunct psychology professor at Alabama State University, Mr. Marsh continues to inspire and mentor the next generation of scholars.

Melvin’s commitment to humanitarianism is equally impressive. He has generously donated 10% of his income and time to charitable organizations, making a tangible difference in the lives of others. He volunteers with the National Weather Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Medical Reserve Corps, and has served as the leader of several non-profit organizations and spearheaded initiatives to support individuals in need. His dedication to helping others is evident in his pro bono work, which has included revitalizing resumes, editing admissions essays for first generation college students, and providing crisis counseling. Melvin’s unwavering dedication to service is exemplified by his selfless actions during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a volunteer EMT, he worked tirelessly for over 2600 straight hours of work (112+ 24 hour days), providing essential medical care and crisis counseling to those in need. He would later become partially paralyzed in the line of duty when he sustained a spinal cord injury.
Mr. Marsh is also a prolific entrepreneur, having founded over a dozen successful businesses. His entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas have created jobs and stimulated economic growth. Additionally, he has served as a technology transfer consultant for multiple government agencies and organizations, lending his expertise to address critical societal challenges and helping to bring over a dozen technologies to market.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Marsh is a talented artist and performer. As an award-winning theater director and stage manager, they have brought countless productions to life. His passion for the performing arts has also extended to acting, with credits in radio, television, theater, voice-over, and film and membership in the Actor’s Equity Association.

Melvin is an alumni of Emory University (O’01, C’03), University of North Dakota, and Georgia Southern University.
A native of South Florida (Hollywood, Florida), Melvin currently resides in Augusta, Georgia with his husband Frank, his sheepdog Sophie, and his cat Izzy. His hobbies include reading, writing, and driving his spouse insane.
